Michael R. Lumley, APFS, Cert CII (FS)

Senior Partner & Chartered Financial Planner

Having spent the last 40 years in financial services, Michael is an expert in his field and passionate about giving clients truly independent advice.

Michael is a Chartered Financial Planner, which is only awarded to those professional financial advisers who can demonstrate commitment to developing their knowledge via examinations and provide advice, service and ongoing support of the highest quality.

As a former Huddersfield RUFC 1st XV Captain, is a keen sportsman and although his rugby union playing days are over, he still follows the sport closely. Michael is also a keen golfer and has been lucky enough to play memorable courses such as Royal Portrush and Pebble Beach.

Richard S. Baxter, ACII, DipPFS, Cert CII (FS)

Partner & Chartered Financial Planner

With Chartered Financial Planner status and three decades of experience under his belt, Richard is dedicated to providing advice of the upmost quality to his clients.

Having played rugby together for many years, Richard joined forces with Michael and Lumley Baxter Asset Management LLP was born, in 2008.

Richard, also a former Huddersfield RUFC 1st XV Captain, still turns out for the 3rd team. He is a keen racketball player, mountain bike rider and enjoys driving vintage cars.

Oliver M. Lumley, APFS, BSc (Hons), IMC

Partner, Chartered Financial Planner & Investment Analyst

As of September 2023, Oliver is a Chartered Financial Planner and our Investment Analyst. He was previously based in London which allowed him to take full advantage of the buzzing fund manager scene in the City. Having earned the Investment Management Certificate (IMC), Oliver passed the CFA Level I exam in December 2018.

To follow his father’s footsteps in the business, Oliver moved back to Yorkshire in January 2021.

With the Yorkshire countryside on Oliver’s doorstep, he enjoys walking his Rhodesian Ridgeback and road cycling. Rowing is another of Oliver’s passions and he has competed at Royal Henley Regatta 5 times.

Richard S. Waters, Cemap, Dip.F.A., AwPETR

Richard has spent his whole career in Financial Services. Richard initially worked for TSB Bank before becoming ‘a Man from the Pru’ in 1990. When Prudential closed its Home Services Division in 2001, Richard joined Positive Solutions as an Independent Financial Adviser.

Having known Richard Baxter since they worked together at Prudential, Richard joined Lumley Baxter Asset Management in 2012.

In his spare time, Richard enjoys the great outdoors, whether that be skiing in the mountains or scenic walking with his family and dog, Betty.

Adele Bestwick, ACII, FPFS

Chartered Financial Planner

Adele is a Chartered Financial Planner with over 25 years of experience in the profession. Completing her Chartered Financial Planner exams in 2008, Adele subsequently became a Fellow of the Personal Financial Society in 2012.

Having known Michael & Richard for many years via the industry, Adele joined the team at Lumley Baxter Asset Management LLP in 2016.

Away from the office, Adele is an avid runner and enjoys family holidays in the sun.

Molly A. Lumley

Paraplanner & Investment Analyst

After working in the financial sector in the City of London, the countryside was calling so Molly returned to Yorkshire, joining LBAM in February 2017.

Whilst working, Molly is studying the several qualifications required to gain Chartered Financial Planner status, following both her father and brother’s footsteps.

Outside of the office, Molly is a single handicap golfer, often participating in competitions, especially against her father! As an ardent globetrotter, Molly has covered 6 out of the 7 continents, with plenty more countries to tick off.

Cyd joined us in September 2020 with 14 years of experience in the financial industry. Cyd supports all our advisers with important client queries and reviews. She can often be heard singing around the office.

Away from work, Cyd loves to spend time with her young family and is reigniting her youth with recently starting roller-skating again.

Rachel joined LBAM in June 2021 with experience across financial services. Rachel has fitted seamlessly into our team and always brings a smile to the office.

Rachel enjoys jetting off around the world with her family having recently visited Iceland, USA and Switzerland.

Lucy Grimshaw

Trainee Financial Planner

After starting work outside financial services, Lucy opted for a career change and hasn’t looked back. She is enjoying the client interactions and is making progress with the CII exam.

Away from work, Lucy loves being in the outdoors with her horse and spaniel. She regularly goes skiing with her boyfriend and often attempts crazy runs off piste.

Liam joined us in September 2022 after gaining a 2:1 in Mathematics and Finance from Newcastle University. During the summer of 2021 Liam joined us for work experience and enjoyed meeting clients.

Liam plays cricket for his local club as both a batter and a bowler. Another skier he can’t wait to get back to the slopes.
